Yes, absolutely if you want to be involved in your community, to be helpful and part of an extended family with shared experiences of camaraderie. To know that when you, your family, friends and neighbors need help individually or as a community you will be one of the helpers. Mr. Rogers told us, “when something terrible is happening look for the helpers, there will always be helpers”. Yes, there will always be helpers because people like you are stepping up, becoming Firefighters, Dispatchers, EMTs, Drivers, helping at fundraisers, fire safety demonstrations at school. You will receive training provided by the Downieville Fire District. Who knows maybe what you learn will turn out to be the profession and you move on to professional status as many of our Cadets and EMTs have done over the years. The DVFD wants you, We need you and all you need to do is say yes, I want to help and we will help you be one of our finest.
